Charles E. (Bucky) Watkins, Jr.

Mr. Charles E. Watkins, Jr. (Bucky) passed away August 4, 2016 in Apache Juction, Arizona.  He was born July 24, 1940 in Cedar Grove, Maryland a son of the late Charles Edward, Sr. and Mary Belle Hawkins Watkins.  Buck graduated from Damascus High School in 1958, and married Barbara Beall Watkins September 23, 1961.  They had one daughter Cynthia in 1962.  Buck served in the U.S. Army reserves from 1958 to 1962.  He was a Sergeant of the Rockville Maryland Fire Department, a member of the Upper Seneca Baptist and Salem United Churches in Cedar Grove, Maryland. 

Bucky truly loved farming and raising Red Angus cattle.  He served on the Red Angus Board of Directors.  Bucky expanded his cattle operation to Polson, Montana in 1981.  His daughter Cindy and her then husband Gordon Mathis along with their children Sara and Jason joined his cattle and farming operation to Harrison, Nebraska until Buckys’ health issues forced him into retirement and on to warmer weather in Arizona.  He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with family and friends.

Mr. Watkins was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents Talmage and Mrytle Watkins and Hattie and Bradley Hawkins, a sister Joan Musson, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins

 

He is survived by his wife Barbara Watkins, a daughter Cynthia O’Donnell and husband Harold of South Dakota, grandchildren Sara Mathis and Jason Mathis and great-grandson Tyler all of South Dakota,  a sister Carol Collins of Maryland, and a nephew Larry Musson also of Maryland.

A memorial service was held Wednesday August 10, 2016 in Arizona.
