Ronald F. Walter

Ronald Franklin Walter age 67 of Damascus, Maryland passed away peacefully on Saturday July 15, 2023.

He was born on May 4, 1956, in Olney, Maryland, a son of the late Douglas H. and Ruth Arlene Walter.

Ron started his career as an automotive mechanic at Warfield’s Damascus Chevrolet dealership.  He enjoyed working on cars and antique tractors in his spare time.

Ron also had a great passion for farming, as did his father.  In 1985 they jointly bought a farm in Greencastle, Pennsylvania where at one time he raised as many as 80 sheep.

In the early 2000’s Ron bought and moved to his own farm in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania where he began to raise black angus cattle.  He was very proud of his herd.  All this was accomplished while.

working full time as a heavy equipment mechanic.

In 2016 Ron suffered a major stroke which paralyzed the left side of his body.  He recovered enough to get around with a cane and drive.  Over the last four years his health continued to decline after breaking a hip in 2019.

Ron is survived by two brothers:  Robert (Kathy) Walter of Walkersville, Dennis (Connie) Walter of Woodbine.  Three nieces: Heather Walter, Frederick; Emily Atwell, Frederick; and Madelyn Walter, Woodbine; one nephew: Benjamin Walter of Woodbine; two aunt’s Joan Bache, Virginia; Sue Walter of Florida; and numerous cousins.

Friends may call on Tuesday, August 8, at Molesworth-Williams Funeral, 2401 Ridge Road, Damascus, Maryland 20872 from 1 p.m. until a memorial service begins at 2p.m.  Pastor Rod Fry will officiate.

In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorial donations be made in Ron’s name to Montgomery United Methodist Church, 28325 Kempton Road, Damascus, Maryland 20872.
