Obituary

Robert “Bob” Lee Anderson of Mt. Airy, MD passed away on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at Gilchrist Center Howard. Bob was born on December 8, 1948, and he was 74 years old.

 He was the husband of Dorothy Ann Anderson.  They were married for 54 ½ years.  He was the son of the late James William Anderson and Elizabeth Fox Anderson.

He is survived by his children Heidi Lynn Bowman (David), Curtis Robert Anderson (Mary), his grandchildren Brittany Lynn Stiles (Dennis), Bryan Wayne Bowman (Kayla), Dalton Gregory Anderson (Terra), Mallory Elizabeth Anderson (Cleveland), Faith Lillian Anderson (Tyler) and his great granddaughter Avery Joan Stiles, and bonus greats Emerson and Dalen. Bob is survived by his brother Edward “Eddie” Anderson (Judy) and their children and grandchildren Jody (Elizabeth, Anthony) and James, “Jimmy” (2 daughters), nephew Kenneth Anderson and brother-in-law F. Robert King and family. He was predeceased by his brother William Kenneth “Kenny” Anderson.

Bob was a 1966 graduate of Gaithersburg High School.  He worked for C & P Telephone Company for 31 ½ years, and then went on to work at Cline Electric and finally at Gladhill Brothers in Damascus retiring in 2014. He volunteered with the 4-H Electric workshop, Small Tractor Driving Contest, Old Timers Show at the Montgomery County Fair, and Montgomery County Ag Center where he volunteered with the food committee and volunteered before and after fair each year.  He and his wife were Honorary Members of the Fair with over 1,000 volunteer hours, recognized in 2023 at the Pioneer Luncheon for over 30 years of service to the Ag Center. Bob was a member of the Montgomery County 4-H All Stars helping to serve food during the state fair until it closed.  He was a member of the Friends of the Farm Park where he helped with events over the years.

Bob enjoyed spoiling the kids that his wife watched during the day. They all became part of the family since some were second generation kids including his special buddy Cameron until he moved to West Virginia.  Most recently, he and Brady were buddies who ate breakfast together and went outside to watch traffic go up and down the road.  They read books every morning before school over the last couple of years.

The viewing will be at Molesworth Williams Funeral Home, 26401 Ridge Road, Damascus, MD 20872, Thursday, September 7, 2023, from 2 pm to 4 pm and 6 pm to 8 pm.

The service will be on Friday, September 8, 2023, starting at 11:00 am at the funeral home.

The Rev. Paul Leatherman will be officiating the service. Burial will follow in the Mt. View Methodist Church Cemetery, 11501 Mt. View Rd., Damascus, MD 20872

In lieu of flowers the family request donations to be made to Mt. View Methodist Church, at the above address.  Please put in the subject line Cemetery Fund for Robert Anderson.
