MARY ELIZABETH (MYERS) ROBINSON, 94, died of natural causes at the residence of her daughter, Cindy L. Eakle, in Middletown MD. She was surrounded by her daughters Cindy and Robin at the time of her death. She was born during a blizzard on February 22, 1926. She was the daughter of Alvin R. Myers and Myrtle (Winters) Myers, and niece of Roy D. Myers and Ethel (Campbell) Myers of Marshall County, WV.
Mary graduated from Sherrard High School in Moundsville, WV in 1944. She moved to Washington DC in 1944 during WWII, and for a time worked at the Pentagon as well as for the Surgeon General before becoming at Public Utility Consultant at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. She retired from government service in 1972. Mary was a member of Salem United Methodist Church of Cedar Grove, MD, and enjoyed membership in several community organizations including the Ladies Auxiliary of American Legion Post 171, and the Damascus Travel Club.
In addition to her parents, Mary was predeceased by a brother, Alvin R. Myers, Jr., and two sons, William J. Cossa and Roy D. Cossa. She is survived by one sister, Joanna M. Myers of Frederick, MD, two daughters, Robin Lynn (Courtney) Szymanski and her husband Melvin, of Mount Airy, MD, and Cindy Lou (Courtney) Eakle and her husband Bruce of Middletown; 14 grandchildren, Melvin, Devin, Weston, Michael, Courtney, Eleanor, Donna, Deana, William, Jason, John, Tony, Nick, Meredith, and 13 great-grandchildren.
A private graveside service will occur on Friday, May 1, 2020. The family is suggesting donations to American Legion Post 171, Salem United Methodist Church, or Hospice of Frederick. Flowers are not accepted at this time due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
