Margaret M. Bayless

Margaret Mary Bayless, 59, of Damascus, MD, passed away on Wednesday, July 22, 2020, after an incredibly courageous battle with cancer.

Margaret was born on March 2, 1961, in Washington, DC. She graduated from The Catholic University of America in 1983 and later earned a nursing degree. She married Richard Bayless on November 12, 1983; they made their home and raised their family in Damascus, MD.

It would be impossible to capture Margaret’s spirit in only a few brief sentences. She was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, and friend who cherished every moment with her loved ones. Those who knew Margaret know that she was driven to nurture, to encourage growth. From caring for her nephews to raising her own children to doting on her grand-nephews and looking after her parents, she was selfless and tireless.

She was predeceased by her husband Richard, and brother Mark. She is survived by her parents Thomas and Monica (Hegarty) Lee; her children Katherine (Eric) Matthews, Marine Corporal Thomas Bayless, and Rebecca Bayless; brother Patrick Lee; a large extended family; and many friends.

The family would like to thank the extraordinary staff of Adventist HealthCare Shady Grove Medical Center and University of Maryland Medical Center for their attentive and compassionate care.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with family and close friends on Wednesday, July 29, 2020, at St. Paul Catholic Church in Damascus, MD. Those attending will be required to wear a facial covering and keep social distance.  Interment will follow at All Souls Cemetery. The family will hold a celebration of life at a later date where all will be welcome to attend.
