Madalean L. Burke Darby died at her residence at Homewood at Crumland Farms in Frederick MD September 15,2022. She formerly resided in Damascus MD with her husband and children before moving to Frederick MD. Her husband of 61 years, Martin L. Darby preceded her in death on November 9, 2007. Madalean was born on September 12, 1925 in Monrovia MD the youngest of four children of the late Leonard F. Burke and Annie L. Burke. Rhodes She was a member of Providence United Methodist Church in Kemptown MD. Also a long time member of the Damascus travel Club, and the American Legion Auxillary Post 171. She enjoyed bowling with the Senior league in Mt. Airy, traveling with friends of the Damascus Travel Club, playing bingo with family and friends, and reading. She is survived by two daughters, Barbara D. Campbell and her husband Rosser (Budd) of Charles Town WV and Nancy D. Auth of Monrovia MD, two grandchildren, Stacey A. Grimes and her husband Seth of Keymar MD and Thomas C. Auth and his wife Mary of Mt. Pleasant MD. She also leaves her three great grandchildren, Dylan, Colton and Leah Grimes of Keymar MD and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Lillian Burke Mullinix, Anna Mae Burke Senseney, and one brother, L. Luther Burke and her grandson, Matthew J. Auth.
Friends may call 11 a.m. -12 p.m. Wednesday, September 21, 2022, at Molesworth-Williams Funeral Home, 26401 Ridge Road, Damascus, Maryland 20872. Funeral services will begin at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Providence (Kemptown) United Methodist Church Cemetery in Monrovia, Maryland.
