Lois Purdum Obituary

Lois Nadean Purdum, 96, of Damascus, MD went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at Tranquility Assisted Living Center, Frederick, MD. She was the daughter of the late Clyde and Clytie Thompson Moxley.

She was married for 74 years to her beloved husband, Ray Purdum who preceded her death 3 years earlier.

She is survived by two daughters, Sharon Spiker, and Lynn Williams and husband Doug, four grandchildren, Barry Rippeon Jr, Kori Matheis, Amy Purdum, Travis Hammond and eight great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her son and daughter-in-law, David and Lyn Purdum, son-in-law, Lewis Spiker and granddaughter Rachel Gulledge.

Lois was employed as an Account Clerk with the Montgomery Co. Board of Education for 23 years where she retired.

She was an active member of the Damascus United Methodist Church where she enjoyed Bible study. She organized their Annual Oyster Dinners for years with great pride and dedication. She was also active in getting their Thrift Shop established years ago.

Lois was also a member of the Damascus Travel Club, American Legion Auxiliary, and the Pleasant Plains of Damascus Daughters of the American Revolution.

She also enjoyed knitting and craft work and preparing meals for the family until she was no longer able.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Friday, Feb. 23, at Molesworth-Williams Funeral Home, 26401 Ridge Rd, Damascus.

There will be a celebration of life service on Saturday, Feb. 24 at 11 am at Damascus United Methodist Church, 9700 New Church St., Damascus, Maryland 20872
