James A. Reddy

James Anthony Reddy (Tony), age 83, passed away on February 28, 2024 at Shady Grove Medical Center.

James was born on June 13th, 1940, to Michael and Margaret (Maggie nee Dowling) Reddy in Graignamanagh, County Kilkenny, Ireland. 

In 1961, he came to the United States with his cousin Christy to his sister, Kathleen Owens. He met his wife Mary Gilroy in Baltimore at an Irish dance. They both loved to dance. She preceded him in death in 2010. They went on to have two children. Michael A. Reddy, and Siobhan T. Reddy-Rowe. 

He was an auto technician for Volkswagen, Porsche and Nissan. They moved back to Ireland in 1975 to open his own business. They moved back to the United States in 1985 where he continued to work as an auto technician for VOB Nissan in Rockville. 

Being an auto technician was not enough, he also was an all around handyman that could fix or build anything. He was a good hearted man who cared for anyone he met.  

He is survived by his brother, Patrick and sister Maura Robinson.
Also, his son, Michael and daughter, Siobhan, his son-in-law, Salvatore Rowe and his granddaughter, Saoirse Mary Rowe. Many nieces and nephews in the United States, Ireland and England. 

Friends may call from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, Wednesday, March 13th, at Molesworth-Williams Funeral Home, 26401 Ridge Road, Damascus, Maryland 20872.

A funeral service will be held at St. Paul Catholic Church on March 14th at 11am with a burial at Gate Of Heaven Cemetery.
