James Dillow Obituary

James “Tuck” Dillow, 91, passed away Friday, December 30, 2022 at the home of his loving daughter and son in law.

Born August 27, 1931 in Millville, W. Va., he was the son of the late Thomas William Dillow and Nannie Elizabeth (Myers) Dillow.

He and his former wife Marion (Medairy) Dillow  lived in  and raised their family in Damascus, Md.

James was a proud member of the US Army serving in the Korean War. After two honorable discharges he went on to work for Montgomery County Public Schools and later worked in security for Air Traffic Control in Leesburg.

His love for sports started young as he played softball for Tom and Rays in Damascus, Md. for many years. He was an avid Redskins fan even when they weren’t doing well. His most used phrase when losing was “they can’t stand prosperity”. He also loved watching the Nationals, and Lakers. He was content watching sports from the moment he woke until late at night.

His love for family was second to none as was theirs for him. From Sunday dinners to holiday celebrations his biggest joy was being surrounded by his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He never missed making a birthday phone call and those calls always ended with “I love all of ya”.

Tuck is survived by his loving companion, Patsy McGaha; son James Dillow Jr. (Frederick) and daughter Lynn Clay (Joe) of Boyds. Surviving siblings include: Mary Ann Oliver (Charlestown), John Dillow (Bunkerhill), Daniel Dillow (Charlestown), and Dale Dillow (Ranson). Also, left to cherish his memory are 6 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his daughter, Robin, as well as siblings William Dillow, Jean Turner, Charles Dillow, and Lester Dillow.

Per his request there will be no service. He wished to spend eternity with his parents, so his ashes will be spread over their graves at a later date.

The family would like to thank Montgomery & Prince Georges Hospice as well as the Martinsburg VA Care in the Community for helping with his care.

After fighting the good fight as he would always say “That’s all of it”.
