William Henry “Bill” Bart, Jr.

On Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at Shady Grove Hospital, Bill, 85, left on his trip to Heaven.

Born May 18, 1931 to the late William H. Bart, Sr. and Mary B. Dodson in Monrovia, MD.

He leaves his wife, Elizabeth “Betsy” Mullican Bart of Gaithersburg. Four children, Joy Bart Smith (Ed) of Westminster; Rose Bart Thomas (Liam) of Gaithersburg; Theresa Bart Kerrick (Dennis) of Olney; and W. Anthony Bart (Michele) of La Belle, FL. Four grandsons, Vinson Smith, William Bissett, Christopher Fink and William H. Bart. Three great-grandchildren, Marjorie, Bradley and Vinson Smith, Jr.

Surviving siblings are Vivian Marshall (Jack); Dottie Fox (Guy deceased); Peggy Smith Ayers (Bob); Barbara Beauchamp (Les); Doris Henslay and brother-in-law John Hargett, numerous nieces and nephews.

He was pre-deceased by siblings John Bart, Mary Hargett and Shirley Green.

Bill and his wife Betsy would have celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary on April 11 of this year. Bill served his country in the Army during the Korean Conflict and left with the rank of Sgt. After returning to civilian life, Bill started his career in garage door work and continued that for 50 years. He never met a stranger, always had a smile and maybe even a story”or two. He loved to meet his friends in the morning at McDonald’s to share a few “stories”.

The family will be receiving friends and family on Wednesday, March 15, Molesworth Funeral Home, Damascus, MD. Visitation hours will be 3-5 PM and 7-9 PM. Funeral service will be held Thursday, March 16, 11:00 AM, Bush Creek Church of the Brethren, 4812A Green Valley Road, Monrovia, MD. Final resting place will be Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.

Donations can be made to Juvenile Diabetes Foundation in his name.
