Ronald Wayne Gue passed away on May 27, 2017 at the age of 74.  He was a life-long resident of Damascus, Maryland.  He was born March 10, 1943 in Frederick Maryland to the late H. Ralph and Betty Brightwell Gue. 

Ron is survived by, June E. Gue, his wife of 53 years.  His son Ronald W. Gue, Jr. and wife Jennifer of Mt. Airy and daughter Laura L. Grimes of Damascus.  He is also survived by granddaughters Victoria L. Grimes and Amy N. Grimes of Damascus and Step-Grandson, Richard Heflin, of Mt. Airy.  Sisters Marsha Rodgers and husband Hank and Lisa Harris and husband Steve of Mt. Airy.  He is also survived by his favorite grand-dog, Dawn, who he loved taking on long walks and picnics.

He started volunteering at the Damascus Volunteer Fire Department at the age of 16 and was an active volunteer for many years.  He retired with the rank of Lieutenant in January 1988 from the Bethesda Fire Department after 25 years of service in a career that he truly loved.

He retired from his second career, a Special Education bus driver for Montgomery County Public Schools, in June 2015 with 26 years of service.  He was a charter member of the Frederick Maryland HOG Chapter and served as senior road captain for a number of years.  He truly loved riding his Harley Davidson motorcycles, on which, he and June have ridden through all of the lower 48 states and in Canada from Nova Scotia to British Columbia.   He also enjoyed traveling throughout the country with his many motorcycle friends.  He was a member of the Maryland Retread Motorcycle Club, the American Legion Riders, the Gold Star Post 191 SAL, and the Elks club (684) in Frederick, Maryland.

Pallbearers will be Paul Adams, John Parker, Larry Naugle, David Cadogan, Daniel Moxley, and Thom Koontz.  Honorary pall bearers are Roger Runkles, Jimmy Beall, Billy Riggleman, Michael Burch, Michael Evans, Bill Hilton, and all retired Bethesda Firefighters.  The family would also sincerely like to thank the staff at Kline Hospice House for their wonderful care. 

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 31st , from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 at the DVFD Fireman’s Activity Center located at 10211 Lewis Drive.  Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 1st, at 11:00 at the DVFD Fireman’s Activity Center.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Damascus Volunteer Fire Department (26334 Ridge Road, Damascus, MD  20872), Kline Hospice House (7000 Kimmel Road, Mt. Airy, MD  21771), or the Damascus United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund (9700 New Church Street, Damascus, MD 20872) in his name.
