Julia W. Walker

Julia Ward Walker, 101, of Gaithersburg, Maryland passed away Tuesday, June 5, 2018. She was wife of the late Milton M. Walker Her husband of 74 years.  He was a former councilman and Mayor of Gaithersburg.

Julia graduated from Gaithersburg High School in 1933 and Western Maryland College in Westminster, Maryland in 1937.  She was a Montgomery Counter teacher at Damascus High School and Gaithersburg High School, as well as a private piano teacher for many years.  She was a lifelong member of Grace United Methodist Church in Gaithersburg, a longtime member of the Gaithersburg/Washington Grove Garden Club and Soroptimist International Club of Upper Montgomery County.  Mrs. Walker enjoyed spending time reading, flower arranging, traveling and entertaining with friends and family.  She and her late husband enjoyed spending many weekends at their lake house in Louisa, Virginia.

Surviving her are two daughters Katherine Hand (Gregory) of Damascus, Md., and Barbara Kachinski (George) of Louisa, Virginia as well as two grandchildren Patti Liversage (Thomas) of Frederick and Brian Hand (Tabitha Batson) of Gaithersburg, and two great grandsons Ethan Walker Hand and Justyn Thomas Liversage.

Friends may call 4-6 p.m. Sunday, June 10, 2018 at Molesworth-Williams Funeral Home, 26401 Ridge Road, Damascus, Maryland 20872.  Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday June 11, at the funeral home.  Rev. James Miller, her pastor will officiate.  Interment will be private.
