Irene was a rare gem. In the 50+ years I have known her, I cannot recall her ever saying anything mean or hurtful to, or about, anyone. She certainly devoted her life to Howard Chapel Church. I always enjoyed sitting in Church prior to the start of the service and listen to her play the organ. She had a git for playing religious music.

We worked together for a few years at the F&M branch in Mt. AIry. While we were all business during banking hours, when the doors closed, we had a good time laughing and swapping yarns. Irene, Jean King, and Elaine Driver were the catalysts and I have many fond memories of those days.

God bless you, Irene. You have been a blessing in my life!!
