Earl Leroy Burdette, 86, of Monrovia, Maryland formerly of Gaithersburg, died Friday August 18, 2017 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. 

He was born October 25, 1930 in Gaithersburg a son of the late Earl Hamilton and Marjorie Nicholson Burdette.

Leroy graduated from Gaithersburg High School in 1948.  He served his country in the U.S. Airforce during the Korean War, and was very active in the American Legion Post 104 in Gaithersburg.  He retired from the David Taylor Model Basin in Carderock, Maryland.

He and his brother Harry operated the Damascus Bowling Lanes in Damascus in the 1960’s.  In the 1970’s they opened the Damascus Pizza & Sub Shop, and the Damascus Laundromat and Car Wash. He was an avid Washington Redskins fan.

He is survived by a sister Marjorie May Carter of Rockville, a brother James A. Burdette and wife Cecelia of Hagerstown; sister-in-law Janet Burdette of Damascus; and many nieces & nephews.

Leroy is preceded in death by his parents, a brother Harry Burdette, and nephews Charles and Robert Carter of Rockville.

Friends may call Thursday, August 24, at Molesworth-Williams Funeral Home, 26401 Ridge Road, Damascus, Maryland 20872 from 11:00 am until funeral services begin at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be private and at a later date.
