Dr. Anna E Derrick, aka Nan, passed away on October 28th 2017 at the age of 93.  She is survived by 6 Children, 13 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.  Nan was a woman before her time. 

She attended college at Temple University in Philadelphia.  During her time at Temple she met her future husband, Robert (Bob) Derrick.  Both she and Bob graduated from the Temple School of Chiropody, now referred to as Podiatry.  She practiced as a DPM (Doctor of Podiatric Medicine) her entire career.  In 1945 that was not an easy thing to do as everyone expected her to stay at home and raise children, which were in abundance in our house.  What she did was find an area where other Dr’s did not want to practice and created her own practice by making house calls for those not able to travel, visiting nursing homes and Convents.

In her late 40’s she accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior.  This decision changed her life and she dedicated the rest of her life to the study and mission of our Lord. After the death of her husband, at 55 years of age, she stepped into his practice and spent the rest of her career working out of the office in her home. Retiring in her early 60’s she spent 4 years doing mission work in Mexico after which she stayed very active in whatever church she was attending.

Family and friends may call 4 to 6 p.m. on Friday, November 3, at Molesworth-Williams Funeral Home, 26401 Ridge Road, Damascus, Maryland 20872  Funeral services will begin at 6 p.m. 

Graveside services and interment will be held 2:30 p.m. Saturday, November 4 at George Washington Cemetery, 9500 Riggs Road, Adelphi, Maryland 20783.
