Norman Eugene “Gene” Hawkins, age 75, of The Villages, Florida, died suddenly Friday, February 24, 2017, after battling a series of illnesses.

He was born June 28, 1941 in Olney, Md., a son of the late Clyde and Mary Elizabeth Shipley Hawkins

Gene was a 1959 graduate of Gaithersburg High School. He worked as a bank teller at Suburban Trust Bank in Gaithersburg, and then as a cashier for Giant Food until retirement.

 He is survived by a son Chester Hawkins; sister Brenda Hawkins,  brother Gregory Hawkins, nephew Jason, aunt Georgia Mae Tucker,  uncle Irwin “Buck” Isaacs, many  friends, and many cousins.  He is preceded in death by his beloved dog, “Bear”.

Friends may call 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon Monday March 6, at Molesworth-Williams Funeral Home, 26401 Ridge Road, Damascus, Maryland 20872.  Graveside services and interment will follow at 12:30 p.m., Mt. Tabor Methodist Cemetery, 24115 Laytonsville Road, Gaithersburg. Maryland 20882.
