Lee Charles Matthews of Damascus, Maryland succumbed to Alzheimer's disease on March 4, 2017 at the age of 84. 

Lee was born January 15, 1933 to Charles and Mary Matthews in Butte, Montana.  He enlisted in the US Army and retired as a Lt. Colonel.  He also worked for the Food and Drug Administration.

Lee was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Sally Ann Matthews,
the "Love of His Life".  He is survived by his 6 children, Lee Ann,
Mary, Terri, Charles, Daniel and Jay; 18 grandchildren and 10 great
grandchildren.  He was a loving husband, father and grandfather, and a
true friend to those who knew him.

Private family services were held on March 10th, 2017, and Lee C.
Matthews was laid to rest with his wife at the Maryland Veterans
Cemetery in Crownsville, Maryland.  May they rest in peace.
