Janice (Watkins) Mullinix Lawson, 93, of Mt.Airy, passed away peacefully on Monday, Aug. 21, 2017 at her residence, Lorien of Mt. Airy.

Born on May 6, 1924 in Browningsville, MD, she was a daughter of the late William M. and Fannie McElfresh Watkins. She graduated from Damascus High School, Class of 1942 and was Secretary of her senior class, and she was a life-long member of Bethesda United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Everett Warfield Mullinix, second husband Hanford I. Lawson, sister Ruth Beall, brother Robert Watkins, and son Everett Wayne Mullinix.

She is survived by sons Thomas W. Mullinix of Irvine, KY, Stephen E. Mullinix of Damascus, MD, & Kevin P. Mullinix of Irvine, KY, 7 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, and special friend Oscar Baker of Lorien of Mt. Airy.

The family will receive friends from 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 25 at Molesworth-Williams Funeral Home, 26401 Ridge Road, Damascus, MD. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 26 at Bethesda United Methodist Church, 11900 Bethesda Church Road, Damascus, MD. Interment will immediately follow in the church cemetery. Following the graveside services there will be a reception at the church hall.
